Israeli officials intend to bring up the suffering of the detainees in Gaza and talk about the rise in online anti-Semitism with Musk.

Elon Musk, a tech entrepreneur, has touched down in Israel to begin a high-profile visit while the nation is still in a state of ceasefire with the Palestinian organization Hamas.

Israeli aviation expert Avi Scharf said that Musk’s jet landed in Tel Aviv early on Monday, using an aviation tracker. According to Israeli media, the billionaire is scheduled to meet with President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and relatives of prisoners detained by Hamas.

The journey takes place on the fourth day of an extended ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, under which Israel is freeing Palestinian inmates in exchange for the return of several hostages.

Seven weeks into the Gaza conflict, worries about false information and hate speech on Musk’s social media platform X are also present. Additionally, there is conjecture on how his satellite internet network Starlink can improve access in the beleaguered Palestinian enclave.

Consent about Starlink

Israel declared it had reached a deal “in principle” to utilize SpaceX’s Starlink communications line in Gaza as Musk was arriving.

The deal represented a significant turnabout for Israel, whose minister of communications had earlier rejected the notion of allowing Starlink to connect to Gaza on the grounds that Hamas would utilize it for “terrorist activities”.

However, Israeli Minister of Communications Shlomo Karhi declared on Monday that Israel and the Palestinian Authority had struck a preliminary agreement that states that “Starlink satellite units can only be operated in Israel with the approval of the Israeli Ministry of Communications, including the Gaza Strip.”

Karhi expressed his hope that Musk’s trip to Israel “will serve as a springboard for future endeavors, as well as enhance your relationship with the Jewish people and values we share with the entire world” in a post on X that was directed at the businessman.

“Tackle anti-Semitism”

Musk was scheduled to meet with the relatives of Hamas detainees and Israeli President Herzog. Musk has been under fire for not doing enough to stop hate speech on X. “We need to act to combat rising anti-Semitism online,” Herzog declared.

Musk will also meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu, who during their most recent encounter in September shared similar worries with the tech mogul.

At the time, Musk declared his opposition to anti-Semitism and his opposition to anything that “promotes hate and conflict.”

Throughout the world, even during the seven-week-old conflict between Israel and Hamas in the beleaguered Gaza Strip, anti-Semitism and Islamophobia have increased.

With content shared by both pro-Israel and pro-Palestine individuals as well as government officials, X has been a major hub for discussion and information on the Gaza War. Critics counter that during the war, technology has also served to spread false information, conspiracy theories, and offensive material, including anti-Semitic remarks.

Musk has been charged with being involved in the dissemination of this kind of material.

He agreed with a post on X on November 15, stating the person who brought up the “great replacement” conspiracy theory was expressing “the actual truth,” despite the post’s bogus accusation that Jews were inciting anti-White sentiment.

The “abhorrent promotion of antisemitic and racist hate” that “runs against our core values as Americans” was denounced by the White House.

Prominent American corporations such as Walt Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal, halted their marketing on his social networking platform.
