After an incident in Syria and Iraq that resulted in the deaths of American soldiers, the US claims to have struck over 85 targets connected to Iran.

The situation on Saturday, February 3, 2024 is as follows:

Tensions in the region
The US military claims that in response for the deaths of three US soldiers in a drone attack in Jordan, it struck over 85 targets in Iraq and Syria that were connected to Iran.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that at least 18 fighters associated with Iran were killed in the airstrikes that occurred overnight. The number of fatalities was not independently corroborated, and US officials merely stated that there were casualties from the attack.

The White House claimed to have notified Iraq before to conducting airstrikes within the nation. The attack was described as “a violation of Iraqi sovereignty” by the Iraqi military, which also warned that it would “lead Iraq and the region into dire consequences.”

After the Israeli defense minister promised to strike Rafah, a region that was previously referred to as a “safe zone,” more than a million Palestinians who have been internally displaced fear a fresh military assault by Israel.
112 Palestinians were killed and 148 injured in Gaza between Thursday and Friday afternoon, according to the UN.

According to Palestinian sources, since October 7, Israeli attacks on Gaza have resulted in at least 27,131 deaths and 66,287 injuries. 1,139 people are now officially dead in Israel as a result of the October 7 Hamas strikes.

Expected to advocate for the release of prisoners detained in Gaza and a ceasefire, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Israel, the occupied West Bank, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Qatar.
Israel was forewarned by Germany’s foreign minister of its impending military assault in Rafah, according to the dpa news agency.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran is the subject of fresh accusations and penalties from the US.
Approximately eight hundred European and American officials have denounced Israel’s war in a letter to their governments.

In a statement to their governments, some 800 European and American leaders referred to Israel’s war on Gaza as “one of the worst human catastrophes of this century.”
